Restaurant Seating

Restaurant seating- whether it be chairs, booths, stools or couches- plays a vital role in the overall design of a restaurant. Before you start placing orders for restaurant chairs, booths or stools, first consider the following:
- The size of your restaurant. Compact booths may be a better option for a smaller restaurant rather that large tables and chairs. Remember, you want to maximize the amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant without sacraficing a clean flow of foot traffic between the kitchen and dining room. Before you buy any furniture, make sure you know exactly how much space you have to devote to restaurant seating. This will help you select the right size seats and tables.
- The design of your restaurant. While compact booths might fit well in a family-friendly diner or other casual eatery, chairs covered with an elegant fabric seat would be a better choice for a fine dining restaurant.
- Your budget. Prices for tables and chairs (or booths, stools and other restaurant seating) quickly add up, consuming a good portion of your initial start up budget. You may love a certain style of chair, but ask yourself if you really need it, or if a cheaper version will suffice. Used restaurant seating is another area where you can save money when opening a new restaurant. When looking a used restaurant chairs, check the joints to make sure they aren’t loose.
What to Look for When Buying Restaurant Seating
When purchasing chairs, look for easy to clean designs. Avoid styles with lots of designs and crevices. They will be harder to wipe down and keep free of crumbs and other debris. If you are purchasing chairs or restaurant booths with fabric seats, be sure to have the fabric treated with a stain resister. And plan to budget in at a professional cleaning at least once, preferably twice a year.
